On & Off Road Trailer Towing Training Courses

Trailers are used extensively both in and outside work. Our course is designed to support you to towing trailers safely both for work and/or for leisure (such as caravans, boats and horse boxes). Learn to tow trailers both on and off-road with skill and confidence in our two-day intensive course. You will need to operate your trailer both on and off road for this assessed course to achieve your certificate.

Learning Outcomes

  • understand the legal requirements when towing trailers
  • carry out equipment safety checks
  • understand how the type and weight of a trailer affects on and/or off road performance and safety
  • understand the relationship between vehicle and trailer weights and limits and how they are affected by use on and/or off road
  • couple/uncouple the trailer from a vehicle
  • understand the requirements of driving the vehicle and trailer combination on and/or off road
  • demonstrate competence in dealing with a variety of on and/or off road situations commonly encountered
  • understand the main causes of accidents and what can be done to avoid them.
