Bishops Castle Auction – Livestock Market Results
What a start to the year at the first cattle sale at Bishops Castle in 2023. Whilst the weather was freezing,
the trade was red hot from start to finish. Grateful thanks go to both purchasers and vendors for defying
the elements and making this a cracking start to the year.
Overall average was £1225 per head and 261p/kg with only a handful of lots under the thousand-pound
mark.
Steers averaged an incredible £1331/head and 276p/kg to a high of £1870 for a Limousin from T. E.
Thomas & Co, Melyn Grug and 316p/kg for a Limousin from A. L. & G. M. Pryce, Aberhafesp.
Heifers also averaged a stunning £1183 and 251p/kg to a maximum of £1700 and 337p/kg for Limousins
from T. E. Thomas & Co, Melyn Grug.
A good run of a dozen bulls from F. G. & A. M. Windsor of Pentre also sold well to average 222p/kg to
246p/kg
